NFL Cheerleaders Featured in SI 2008 Swimsuit Issue

Well kids, with the always underwhelming Pro Bowl in the rear-view mirror, and pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training this week, we can officially sign off on the 2007 NFL campaign. As a still devastated member of Patriots nation, I think it’s finally time to move on (in other words, go Red Sox!).

To begin working through the pigskin withdrawal process, here’s two prescriptions: first, links to the two-part post I wrote this time last year entitled Post Traumatic Football Season Disorder. Click here for Part 1, and click here for Part 2.

Second, the annual SI Swimsuit Issue has arrived, and god bless the folks over a Sports Illustrated for providing me with such a convenient crossover to my favorite off-season topic - NFL Cheerleaders! That’s right, they’ve dedicated an entire section to twelve lovely ladies who patrol the gridiron sidelines.

The best part? The New England Patriots are well represented by the lovely Ms. Meghan White, while the New York Giants do not have a featured cheerleader! In fact, the New York Giants have NO cheerleaders whatsoever, which is simply un-American. Advantage, New England!

(and yes, I realize this kind of taunting falls under the “desperate grasping at straws” category…ugh)

So be sure to swing by the SI Swimsuit site - the lovely ladies there should help warm that cold, dead space left in your heart by the departure of another football season. Heck, they’ve even teamed up with YouTube to offer up some video goodness…

(even if the archaeologist turned super model bit is a tad archaic. HA! Archaic! Get it? Ah…nevermind.)

Anyways, we’ll have some more off-season goodness next week. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Some Holiday Cheer(leaders)

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Today marks the one year anniversary of Talking NFL, and what better way to celebrate than with a Holiday Cheerleader extravaganza!  Below you will find the best NFL cheerleader videos and pictures I could find (in the spare 15 minutes I had between running over people at the mall and cramming my carry-on bag inside that glove compartment sized crib outside airport security - seriously, does ANYBODY’S bag fit in that thing?!).

Before we begin, a quick programming note:  yours truly will be attending the New England vs Miami tilt in Foxboro this weekend, and I plan on providing a full tailgating recap early next week! (complete with leftover grilled Dolphin…)  True, the game would have been much more enjoyable if the Dolphins were still chasing historic ineptitude, but I’m sure we’ll make do with the remaining Patriots chase for perfection!  In Bill We Trust!

In addition, we have a bunch of post-holiday goodies prepared for all you faithful readers that have endured this calendar year, including a playoff preview, a look at some great up-and-comming blogs, and a Talking NFL first: an honest to goodness interview!  (With someone actually involved with professional football and who isn’t my mom or some bookie I owe $$$ to - sorry Vinny, check’s in the mail…no really…put that cigar cutter away…)

So as Veronica Corningstone would say; thanks for stopping by, and enjoy a cornucopia of holiday cheerleader goodness! HO HO HO!!

Guess Which Team is the Most Popular in the NFL? (Hint: It’s Not New England)

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Recently, Harris Interactive conducted a nationwide survey to find out which NFL team was the most popular. They also asked for predictions regarding who will win Super Bowl XLII.

The results are in, and if you happen to be from Pittsburgh, well I hate to tell you but you are no longer #1. That’s right, the Steelers had the top spot after winning Super Bowl XL, but this year they fell to #3. Here’s the rest of this year’s top 5, in reverse order:

5. Chicago Bears
4. Green Bay Packers
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
2. Indianapolis Colts

That’s right, the Patriots didn’t even crack the top 5! (They came in 6th. Jealousy is a terrible things, kids.) As for the top spot, well - drum roll please, as we congratulate….

The Jacksonville Jaguars!!

(Whoops, sorry - they came in dead last. My bad.) Turns out the real winner was:

Hey, Tampa! The Texans See Your Cheerleader Website and Raise You a Virtual Dance.

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Earlier this month, we discussed the glory of the new Tampa Bay Buccaneers Cheerleader Site. Well, consider the bar raised by the beautiful ladies (like Andrea here) down in Houston, Texas!

The new Houston Texans Cheerleader Website contains video, a cheerleader of the week segment, and (drum roll please) a bio section for each cheerleader that includes a virtual cheer and 360 view feature!

(Editorial Comment: Hey Texans tech guys; if you’re going to do a 360 view feature, which is sure to freak some uber-conservatives off anyways, why not go for the full body view? Cutting them off right at the mid-section? Pfffft. Whatever.)

Anyways, enjoy perusing the lovely ladies that make up the Houston Texans Cheerleader Squad. Remember though (as always); no cyber-stalking allowed, guys!

Hat tip: The always excellent and lovely Stephanie Stradley over at AOL FanHouse.
