NFC Wild-Card Preview
My apologies for not posting this sooner. You see, I’ll be attending this weekend’s Pats-Jets game, and tailgating preparation has consumed most of my day. Trust me, this is harder than it sounds for a Patriots fan. Today, I realized that my 2003 AFC Championship long-sleave shirt clashes with my 2004 Super Bowl Championship hat, so I can’t wear those together. So I broke out my Patriots Dynasty sweatshirt, but not only is it a completely different style from my new 2006 AFC East Championship sweatpants, thanks to global warming it’s going to be in the 50’s on Sunday, so that outfit is toast. What a pain in the butt (and yes, this proves that New Englanders can complain about anything)!
Anyways, a quick look at the NFC games:
NY Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles
After the first third of the season (5 weeks in), most media experts had the Eagles as one of the top teams in the NFC. By the end of November, they were completely written off as dead in the water. Now they’re the trendy pick to make the Superbowl. The best part? They’re not even the most dysfunctional team in this game! The Giants are a complete mess, and honestly, I’ve lost track of who’s ticked off at whom in that locker-room. The bottom line - Eli Manning hasn’t been throwing forward passes lately; he’s been lobbing grenades. And he’s going on the road against a team that’s won 5 straight. Game over, man. Game over.
Eagles 27 - Giants 13
Dallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks
Both teams have lost 3 of their last 4, and both QB’s are struggling. So naturally, this game gets the prime time spot at 8pm on Saturday night. If you can figure out the reasoning behind that brilliant decision by the NFL, please let me know.
Anyways, I’m having a hard time getting behind a team that lost to freaking Detroit in a crucial game last week AT HOME. That, combined with a QB who’s too busy dating B-level celebrities, the biggest jerk-off in the league, and a 66 year-old head coach who bleaches his hair, and I’m rooting for the Hawks in a big way. If the last five minutes feature a sumo wrestling match between TO and Parcells to end their relationship, even better. I can’t think of two people in the NFL who deserved each other more this season. Just wait until the divorce proceedings start next week!
Seahawks 41 - Cowboys 16
Back on Monday with a complete summary of the games. If the Pats win, expect at least a few days of obnoxious gloating. If the lose, expect me to be angry & bitter all week, with a good chance I mail in these postings with no pride whatsoever. Either way, you lose. Enjoy the games!

You’re clearly not a die-hard Pats fan. Real Pats fans wear whatever Pats clothing they find, regardless of whether or not it matches. You sound more like a fancy-shmancy Hollywood type LA (Oakland) Raiders fan.
