The 2nd Coming of Deion Branch, Follow-up

by

On Monday, we compared new Patriot wide receiver Donte Stallworth’s numbers to those of former Patriot Deion Branch. Turns out, the two have more in common than we first thought…

Mike Reiss (who, I’m convinced, either doesn’t sleep or has had himself cloned) provides a transcript of Donte’s press conference on Boston.com, and Donte mentioned a recent conversation he had with Deion that helped sway his decision to sign with the Pats:

“Deion is a good friend of mine. We came out together and he had nothing but great things to say about the organization, nothing negative, because he understands it’s a business and we both been in this game long enough to understand that things do happen and it’s a business at the end of the day. He had nothing but great things to say about the coaches, players and the organization as a whole.”

(Note: “we came out together” is in reference to the 2002 draft, so you can save any Brokeback Patriots jokes you’re brewing up…)

…hey Patriots fans - remember all that Deion Branch bashing we did last summer? Good thing he doesn’t take any of this stuff personally & has put all the holdout nastiness behind him. Kudos to Deion for being a man. Nice shirt, too…

(…I wonder if Lance Briggs would offer the same opinion of the Bears to prospective free agents?)

Of course, this blog wasn’t around back then, but if it was, I prrrrobably would have had a few not so nice things to say about #83. So even though I didn’t say anything, I hypothetically apologize to Deion anyways…
