Two Super Fans Pass Away
Sad news this weekend in both Miami and Dallas, as two fan legends passed away within 24 hours of each other.
On Friday, “Dolfan Denny” (Dennis Sym) died at age 72. He was the unofficial mascot for the Phins for 34 years, and regularly patrolled the sidelines during games.

(According to the Miami Herald, his trademark was tight white shorts. Fortunately, I couldn’t find any pictures of him in that outfit)
Meanwhile, in Big D they’re mourning the loss of “Crazy Ray” (Wilford Jones) at age 76. Also regarded as an unofficial mascot, he dressed for each Cowboys game in chaps, a blue vest, toting a six-shooter. He even performed magic tricks. (He’s the one on the right)

Two things to mention about both men:
First, you can say whatever you’d like about their degree of ‘enthusiasm’, but make no mistake, the word “bandwagon” was never part of their vocabulary.
Second, it’s worth noting that they are both survived by their wives (Ingrid and Mattie, respectively). Two very understanding, caring (and patient) women…God bless them both.
Rest in peace, Super fans…

Oh my gosh, I actually saw him at some of the games back in the late 70’s when I lived up in the DFW area. He was a hoot! Sorry to hear about his passing, but he sure did have a fun time while he was alive!
